This course will inform teachers about  the various Irish Children’s Writers or prominent Irish writers who have  written material suitable for children. It is designed to get teachers thinking about  the work of the Irish writers involved, so that they can bring this thinking into their work in classrooms. It will provide teachers with information and resources that they can use positively, in their integration of children’s literature with other subjects (English/ Gaeilge/Maths/Drama/ Art/Geography/Music), and any other curriculum that the course may stimulate. This  course will provide a suggested list of activities that can be used in the classroom, or as research work to stimulate learning or further learning.

 NB: Basic ICT skills are a prerequisite for this on-line course. Participants should have experience of carrying out basic ICT tasks (opening, editing, saving, closing files) and be proficient in using an Internet browser. Participants will move between Internet browser windows, following tasks in one window to create projects in another. Prior experience of participating in an online course, contributing to an online discussion forum and uploading or downloading files will be an advantage.
